Fuchsia Story
As a little girl, I used to love p[laying in my Nana’s garden. It wasn’t very big but it was stuffed full of amazing plants and had lots of little hidden paths, bird baths and secret nooks. Among my favourite plants in her garden were Lambs Ear (so incredibly soft) and Snap Dragons (who knew a flower could be so much fun when you were 7?).
Nana’s favourite flowers are Fuchsia’s and it’s one of the few garden plants that I’ve had any success with. Living a fair distance away from my family, it’s nice to have little nods to them around my home, inside and out. Seeing the bright pinks and purples on the Fuchsia shrub takes me back to happy childhood afternoons filled with hide and seek, ginger nuts and orange cordial. They will forever make me smile.
The print measures 12cm and is a combination of watercolour wash and Lino print using black oil based inks.
